Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor. The most well-known role she has played is was that of Teri her passionate lawyer Teri Jospehson on the Showtime television series Soul Food. Following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to as Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. As young, she demonstrated an interest in acting and received the Top Actress Award in the Maryland High School competition. She received her degree in acting at New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company', as well as on stage. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first major performance. It was followed by other films like 'Boogie Nights Spark' as well as Blue Streak. Born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria from the age of seven. Contractor was a seasoned traveler who enjoyed world travels and a variety of civilizations at an extremely young age. After attending boarding schools for seven years in London Her family then moved to Toronto Canada where she lived for the majority of her childhood and into early adulthood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become an classical ballerina. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution focused on theatre and dance. Contractor, who had been dancing for more than 10 years when she started, decided she was ready to pursue acting. Following her graduation from high school Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. She also earned a master's degree in Theater. After one year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the production Pericles at the prestigious famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. In 2002, Canadian reviewers praised her performance in 92 performances of Pericles. She accepted the invitation to join Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash program in classical theatre. Her place was guaranteed in the next play as she was offered the part as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
